Our latest Visitor!!

This not so little guy was not so happy to find himself in our laundry. Not surprisingly Katrina wasn't real happy to find him on her foot either!

We think he got in because the door had come off its runners and so he hopefully won't be able to make a comeback. Any guesses on what sort of snake he is? We've been poring over a friend's book and can't decide between a non venomous green tree snake (poorly named because it can be black) or a coastal taipan, only one of the most deadly snakes in the world!

Bargain shopping

So we went garage sale shopping on Saturday. We've been a bit more regular at it these days, mostly because we're up at 6am with Sally anyway. We haven't had a great deal of success in recent weeks (we almost got a beautiful piano but the seller reneged a few days later and would NOT be swayed - very disappointing) but we've picked up a few things here and there.

But Saturday produced some spectacular purchases, as evidenced below:

The first house yielded the following items.

Suitcase - $4

Toy for Sally - $2

Enormous hiking pack - $15

But we were on the lookout for a bookcase, so we continued on. The next house had a beautiful bookcase for only $40 but it had already sold (sigh) so we bought these cushions for $1 each. Don't worry, they will be recovered in much nicer colours.

And then we struck upon a house where the owners were moving to a much smaller place and and wanted to get rid of everything. No bookcases (alas) but check this out:

3 piece lounge setting, really comfortable - $200. We'll get it recovered because there are a few stains but we're pretty pleased with it.

Bar stools for our kitchen bench - $10 each.

And Katrina's personal favourite, an absolute mountain of Tupperware - $50. There must be hundreds of dollars worth of stuff there, all with a lifetime guarantee. Woo hoo!
